Track & Field Closes Out Day One Of Vanderbilt Invite

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Finishing in the Top 5 for the fourth time this season, senior high jumper Seth Peace cleared 6-08.25 to place fourth overall at the Vanderbilt Invite Friday.
“We have a lot more to do tomorrow,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “We came here to compete and continue to improve as a team. We have a lot of talented athletes on our team who put in a lot of work, and I hope they can all perform to the best of their ability tomorrow.”
With a clearance of 5-07.25, sophomore Logan Boss finished fourth, second collegiately, in the high jump.
Running a personal-best 24.57, Kimari Martin placed seventh in the 200m dash, followed by Alon Lewis (25.51) and Zaria Tillman (25.72) in 28th and 37th, respectively.
Juston Waters and Alfred Larry tied for ninth in the men's 200m run with a time of 21.77. Finishing in 13th was Charles Taylor after recording a time of 21.86, while freshman Lawrence Crawford claimed 17th with a time of 21.95. Freshman Rasheed Tatham also finished in the Top 20 coming in 19th with a time of 22.02.
Finishing seventh in the long jump, Leah Lott leaped 19-09, while teammate Tiffany Flynn leaped 18-10.75 to place 12th.
Throwing 53-08.50, Brianna Smith posted a 14th-place finish in the weight throw.
Day two of the Vanderbilt Invitational will begin tomorrow with freshman Kristy Terp in the 3000m run at 10 a.m. CT, while thrower Haley Reynolds will kick off the field events at 11 a.m. with the shot put.
