Boss Brings Home Win At Conference Clash

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sophomore Logan Boss cleared 5-09.75 in the high jump for the second time this season to finish first in the event at the Conference Clash Saturday in Birmingham, Alabama.
“I performed better than I expected, I didn't expect to win today,” Boss said. “I was very confident in the way I performed. I have high hopes I'll continue to improve. I hope to do big things in the upcoming meets and reach my goals. I'm trying to clear 1.83 meters [6-00] to qualify for indoor nationals.”
After qualifying for the 60m hurdles finals on Friday, junior Ro'Derick Spears posted a time of 8.14 in the event to finish seventh overall Saturday.
In the 400m dash, senior Alfred Larry clocked a time of 47.29 to place fifth. Larry's teammates Rasheed Tatham (48.62) and Vince Castillo (49.47) finished 12th and 17th, respectively, in the event.
Kimari Martin earned a Top 10 finish in the women's 400m dash, running an indoor personal-best 54.45 to place eight, while freshman Alon Lewis ran 58.34 to finish 40th.
Junior Ffion Price clocked a time of 2:10.74 in the 800m run to pull out a sixth-place showing. Behind Price, senior Madison Milhoan took 23rd with a personal-best time of 2:15.59.
In their first competition of the year, Cornelia Griesche and Antonia Hehr represented MSU in the mile run. Griesche ran a time of 4:56.29 to finish 10th, while Hehr recorded a time of 5:00.57 to place 19th. On the men's side, Caden Foos finished 24th with a time of 4:17.03 and Quintin Reiser ran 4:22.87 to finish 28th.
Making her first appearance in the 3000m run for MSU, freshman Shannon Fair ran a time of 9:51.97 to finish 17th. Finishing behind Fair was freshman Kristy Terp in 29th with a time of 10:23.55.
Concluding events on the track, the men's 4x400m relay team made up of Larry, Juston Waters, Charles Taylor and Rasheed Tatham ran a time of 3:10.66 to finish fourth. Lewis, Martin, Price and Zaria Tillman made up the women's relay team that finished 13th with a time of 3:47.45.
In the field for the Bulldogs, sophomore Tiffany Flynn had a leap of 16-08.50 to finish seventh in the long jump. Also in the long jump, A.J. Ward finished 17th after a jump of 22-05.25.
Thrower Haley Reynolds had a toss of 44-06.25 to place 11th overall in the shot put.
With a score of 91 to 74, the Southeastern Conference males brought home the Conference Clash win over the Power 4 males, while the Power 4 females won over the SEC females 85.50 to 84.50.
Next up for the Bulldogs, the teams will travel to Nashville for the second time this season to compete in the Vanderbilt Invite on Jan. 29 and 30.
