
Track & Field Concludes Day 1 of Commodore Invite

Nashville, Tenn. – Kicking off day one of the Commodore Invite, senior Alfred Larry brought home first place in the 200m dash after clocking a time of 21.64 in the event on Friday.
With nine Bulldogs in the 200m dash, four finished in the Top 10, including Larry. Following Larry was Charles Taylor in fourth with a time of 21.77. Coming in ninth was sophomore Juston Waters posting a time of 21.99, while Dustin James II immediately followed in 10th with a time of 22.00.
“We had some quality performances tonight from different athletes,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “It's still early in the season and we have a lot of work to do, but we have a lot of athletes stepping up this weekend.”
In the women's 200m dash Kimari Martin led MSU with a 10th-place finish with a time of 25.11. Behind Martin was freshman Alon Lewis with a time of 25.51 in 17th.
Senior Seth Peace cleared a personal-best 6-11.50 in the high jump to finish third. Appearing alongside Peace was sophomore Willie Reed, who cleared 6-02.75 to finish sixth. On the women's side, Logan Boss finished sixth after clearing 5-07.25, while teammate Deja Givens came in 13th with a height of 5-03.25
With a throw of 56-05, sophomore Brianna Smith finished fourth in the weight throw, while teammate Haley Reynolds threw 51-00.75 to place ninth.
Completing Friday night's field events was Tiffany Flynn, Leah Lott and A.J. Ward in the long jump. Finishing seventh overall, Lott had a leap of 19-09.75, while teammate Flynn placed 14th after a leap of 18-06. For the men, Ward also finished seventh with a leap of 23-09 in the event.
Action will resume at the Commodore Invite Saturday at 11 a.m. CT, with Reynolds in the shot put, while track events start up at 11:30 a.m. with Kaelin Kersh in the 400m dash.
