
Baseball America Names Hudson and Rooker Top Summer Prospects

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Following incredible summers in the Northeast, Mississippi State junior right-hander Dakota Hudson and sophomore outfielder Brent Rooker were named top prospects in their respective leagues by Baseball America, the publication announced Thursday.
Hudson was named the 10th-best prospect in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League after leading the Hyannis Harbor Hawks to their first appearance in the CCBL League Championship Series since 2000. The CCBL Year-End All-League Team member finished second in the league with 54 strikeouts in 56 2/3 innings, recording a 1.43 ERA in 13 appearances (seven starts). On August 10, the Dunlap, Tennessee, native was named CCBL Pitcher of the Week after striking out eight in eight innings of one-run ball in Game 1 of the CCBL LCS.
Rooker was named the second-best prospect in the New England Collegiate Baseball League after being name the league's Most Valuable Player as well as the Most Improved Player. The first-team All-NECBL slugger was on the verge of becoming the league's first Triple Crown winner late in the summer, finishing first in home runs (10) and RBIs (33) but third in batting average (.360). The Germantown, Tennessee, native also led the NECBL in runs scored (36), hits (59), total bases (99), at-bats (164) and slugging percentage (.604).
The Southeastern Conference led all conferences with 38 players on Baseball America's lists, which features players who generally go on to have successful seasons the following spring.
