STARKVILLE, Miss. – During the fall, HailState.com will interview select Mississippi State newcomers as an introduction to the MSU fanbase. Left-handed pitcher Kale Breaux arrived in Starkville as the 2014-15 Gatorade Louisiana Baseball Player of the Year. The southpaw was also a member of USA Baseball's 18U National Team which went a perfect 8-0 and took home the gold medal at the 2014 COPABE Pan American Championship two summers ago.

KALE BREAUX Q&A
Q: What was it like experiencing your first scrimmage at Dudy Noble Field Sept. 15?
A: It was pretty intense. I am adjusting to the new speed of the game. It is a different animal for sure. It is so much different from high school. You cannot leave anything up as a pitcher. You cannot make any mistakes or they will make you pay. Six inches makes a huge difference.
Q: What made you decide to come to Mississippi State?
A: There is a lot of tradition here and the fans are incredible. Coach Butch Thompson had a big impact on me coming here. The way he does everything and his style was something I was looking forward to working with.
Q: How has strength and conditioning been?
A: It is going very well. We run more than we do anything else right now. All of the running is keeping our endurance up."
Q: What pitches do you have in your arsenal?
A: I throw a fastball, changeup, slider and a curveball. The velocity on my fastball is anywhere between 87-89 mph. I have hit 91 a few times.
Q: How did you enjoy your first football game at Mississippi State against LSU?
A: It was a great atmosphere. It came down to the last second and it was just a great game. I am from Louisiana, so my girlfriend and a few buddies came up to watch us play LSU.
Q: What do you like to do in your off time? What is your go-to Netflix show?
A: I don't know about Netflix shows, but I really like HBO Hard Knocks. I like the behind-the-scenes features that show the viewer what the subjects think about being professional athletes and how they handle their celebrity status.
Q: What are your thoughts on the new Dudy Noble Field?
A: The new stadium is going to be unbelievable. The fans deserve it and I cannot wait to see it packed out when we run out of the dugout that first time.
