September 18, 2015 | Women's Golf
Norman, Okla. – With very little turnaround time from the season opener, the Mississippi State women's golf team turns its attention to the third annual Schooner Fall Classic in Norman, Oklahoma.
The tournament, which begins Saturday and concludes Monday, will be held at the Belmar Golf Club, benefitting the Toby Keith Foundation and the OK Kids Korral.
The Bulldogs travel to Oklahoma looking to defend their title from a year ago, where they set school and course records with a three-round total of 818. Former All-American Ally McDonald fired a school record 63 en route to claiming medalist honors.
This's years squad will have the same lineup as last week's tournament in Charleston, S.C., featuring juniors Ji Eun Baik and Jessica Peng, freshmen Elsa Moberly and Bianca Theron, and senior Logan Chaney. Junior Izel Pieters will be competing as an individual.
Last week at the Cougar Classic, MSU finished 16th at 302-285-307—904.
“This is a very talented team. I look for three solid rounds and to build on experience each week. With each event, we will get better,'' MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. “ I expect us to play well and compete.”
Ji Eun Baik led MSU at the Cougar Classic with a 220, followed by Jessica Peng with a 222.
Live scoring will be provided through BirdieFire.com and will tee off on Sept. 19-21.
