Peng Finishes Strong, Helps Bulldogs Finish Top 10

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Improving in each round, the Mississippi State women's golf team saved the best for last.
In the final round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, MSU fired a 299, carving six shots off its second-round finish to place 8th with a three-day total of 912. This marks the fifth tournament in a row the team has finished in the Top 10.
“We are not satisfied with our play overall, even though we had a good final day,” Bulldogs coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. “Factors beyond our control affected us, we need to get home and put in some good work before the next event.”
Mississippi State's SEC foe, LSU, took home top honors.
Sophomore Jessica Peng continued her dominant play, as she finished tied for fifth in the event with a final day card of 70 to lead all MSU players. This marks the third tournament in a row Peng has finished in the Top 5 of her event.
Senior Ally McDonald shaved three stokes off of Monday's round as she carded a 75 to tie for 24th.
Shooting par on the final nine holes, Rica Tse was able to recover from a tough start to her day. The senior finished the day at 78 to earn a tie for 38th place.
Both having their lowest rounds of the event in today's final round, sophomore Ji Eun Baik and Junior Logan Chaney fired a 76 and 79, respectively, to help the Bulldogs in their comeback effort.
Mississippi State resumes play March 6-8 at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, S.C.
