Bulldogs Jump Into The Top 10 After Second Round

NEW ORLEANS, La. – After a tough first round, the Mississippi State women's golf team rebounded Monday and now finds itself in the Top 10 of the All-State Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate after shooting a 305.
The Bulldogs are in 9th place and in striking distance of finishing in the Top 5 with a total score 613.
LSU is currently in first at 588, followed by UCLA and Tulane tied for second at 589.
“Today's conditions were much worse, as we fought the wind and cold,” MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. “We actually did some good things today, even with a few struggling from the stomach bug. We are still fighting to finish as high as possible.”
Jessica Peng led the way for the Bulldogs in Monday's second round. Jumping 30 spots from her 40th-place finish Sunday, she carded an even par-72 to find herself tied for 10th.
Senior Ally McDonald started the day slow, but rallied on the back nine and ended the day shooting a 78 and a tied for 27th.
Jumping 20 spots, and shaving three strokes off her Sunday round, was Rica Tse. After a perfect par on the front nine, she ended the day 3 over and tied for 31st.
Sophomore Ji Eun Baik and Junior Logan Chaney shot 80 and 81, respectively.
The tournament concludes play with Tuesday's final round.
