Baik Steps Up, Helps Bulldogs Finish Day Two In Top 10

Tallahassee, Fla. –After an impressive second-place finish in yesterday's first round, Mississippi State battled the elements to end the second round of the third annual Florida State Seminole Match-Up in 6th place with a 301 (+13). The score puts the Bulldogs only 3 shots out of second place Florida State.
The No. 1 team in today's round was once again South Carolina. MSU trails first place by 6 strokes.
“I have to say the hole placement was very tough today, add the wind and confidence can be lost quickly,” MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. “It is reassuring that we are 3 shots from second place and only 6 from first.”
Improving 4 strokes from yesterday's first round, sophomore Ji Eun Baik led the way for the Bulldogs, as she was able to fire a 73(+1) card. She included 3 birdies in her outing today to climb into the Top 20, tied for 19th.
Ally McDonald had another impressive outing today as she shot par on 6 of the first 9 holes, and one-under on the rest of the first 9. She added two strokes to her first round by firing a 74 card in today's second round, finishing tied for 9th.
Once again, right behind McDonald was the sophomore Jessica Peng, who tied her teammate with a 74 scorecard. Peng ended the day jumping 12th place, tied with Missouri's Clara Young.
Senior Rica Tse and Sophomore Izel Pieters both fired 80 in the day. Tse is tied for 33rd, while Pieters tied for 58th.
MSU resumes play at 7:30 a.m. CT, tomorrow for the final round of the Florida State Seminole Match-Up.
