MSU Concludes Puerto Rico Tip-Off Against Missouri State
November 21, 2015 | Men's Basketball
Sunday's action is set for 11 a.m. and will be streamed on ESPN3 via the WatchESPN app. Bart Gregory and Richard Williams will provide the radio broadcast call on the MSU Radio Network.
Despite a 74-72 setback to Texas Tech Friday, four Bulldogs posted double-digit performances against the Red Raiders. Malik Newman paced MSU with a pair of game-highs, recording 17 points and dishing out four assists. Gavin Ware added 15 points to go along with his team-high nine rebounds.
Although this is just the second meeting on the hardwood between the two schools, Mississippi State is familiar with the Missouri Valley Conference. MSU is 9-9 all-time against current members of the MVC, winning its last matchup against Loyola-Chicago 65-64 in overtime during the 2013-14 season and marking the 50th anniversary of the infamous Game of Change.
The Bears (0-3) are in search of their first victory of the young season. Missouri State fell to No. 22 Butler to open the tournament before a second-half comeback bid fell short against Minnesota, 74-69 in Game 5 on Friday.
Senior Camyn Boone paces the Bears' offense, averaging 10.3 points per game, while freshman Obediah Church provides an inside presence with a team-leading 8.3 rebounds per game.
The Bulldogs return home Saturday, Nov. 28 to face UT-Martin. Tip for that game is set for noon and can be seen on SEC Network+.
