October 05, 2015 | Women's Basketball
STARKVILLE, Miss. – On the eve of the first official practice of the 2015-16 season, the Mississippi State women's basketball team learned the Longhorn Network will televise its Dec. 2 game at Texas.
The contest between preseason Top 10 squads will tip at 7 p.m. from the Frank C. Erwin, Jr. Special Events Center in Austin.
The December opener is part of 12 TV dates for reigning SEC Coach of the Year Vic Schaefer's Bulldogs. All non-televised home games will be available online and via the WatchESPN app on the SEC Network +.
The Bulldogs officially open practice Tuesday evening looking to build on a historic 2014-15 season that saw MSU set school records for overall (27) and SEC (11) wins while claiming the program's first NCAA Tournament nod since 2010.
Four starters and 10 letterwinners return from that squad which finished No. 12 in the final Associated Press poll and made an SEC-record 10-spot jump to third in the league standings.
That successful campaign earned Mississippi State a No. 6 preseason national ranking by Athlon Sports and No. 8 rating in this year's Lindy's Sports college basketball preview. Athlon ranked Texas 10th, while Lindy's had the Longhorns at No. 9.
Season tickets for Mississippi State's 16-game home slate, which kicks off Nov. 13 at home against Samford, also remain on sale. Reserved season tickets (sections 114-118) cost $95 each, while general admission tickets are priced at $35.
Fans can order tickets for the Bulldogs' 16-game home slate online at www.hailstate.com/tickets or via phone at 1-888-GO-DAWGS.
Hail State Hoops expects to be a hot ticket once again following a 2014-15 campaign that saw a school-record 67,598 fans attend games at Humphrey Coliseum.
In the regular-season finale, a 55-47 win against Ole Miss, the Bulldogs had 7,326 in the Hump, the largest crowd ever to watch a women's college basketball game in the state of Mississippi.
