HUNTER STOVALL Q&A
Q: What stood out to you about Mississippi State versus other schools that recruited you?
A: The atmosphere and the coaches. Coach (John) Cohen and Coach (Nick) Mingione) are unbelievable. One thing that has really stood out to me is that the coaches haven't treated me any different once I arrived than they did when they recruited me. They are the same people. Their genuineness has really made an impression on me.
Q: What type of hitter would you say you are? Do you like to hit for power or hit for average?
A: A little bit of both. I have always been able to hit for average and power. Maybe at this level I might be more of a hit-for-average type of player.
Q: How is strength and conditioning going this fall?
A: Coach (Brian) Neal has been really pushing us since we've arrived on campus. I have already put on almost 10 pounds of muscle since I have been in Starkville.
Q: How is your semester going so far?
A: Classes are going well. I am just taking the basic courses so far because I have not picked a major yet. I am still trying to figure out what I want to do, so I am not rushing the process. The academic advising here has been fantastic.
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: I don't really watch a lot of television or play video games. I'm too busy going to school, studying and playing baseball to be bored. When I am bored I just sit around and listen to music or go to the cage and hit. All I want to do is be a better baseball player.Â
Q: What are your thoughts on the new Dudy Noble Field?
A: The new stadium is going to be crazy. I am actually from the Birmingham area (Pelham) and the drawings of the "New Dude" really remind me of Regions Field, the new Birmingham Barons' stadium that opened a couple years ago. It is pretty hard to imagine we will be playing in that nice of a stadium right here on campus. It will be the best baseball stadium that doesn't host a Major League team.
