Women?s Golf Head To Texas To Wrap Up Fall Slate
October 24, 2015 | Women's Golf
San Antonio, Texas – Looking to a strong finish for the fall campaign, the Mississippi State women's golf team returns to the Lone Star State to play in the University of Texas-San Antonio-hosted Alamo Invitational.
MSU is one of 15 teams converging on the par-72 Briggs Ranch Golf Club beginning Sunday. The field includes five teams from the SEC, including last season's champion, LSU.
“We have amped up the intention and intensity of our practices over the last weeks and are looking forward to our last event this fall,” Coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. “While the weather is going to be less-than-stellar in central Texas, we will focus on what we can control, our routine, process and attitude. Briggs Ranch is a very good course and we can't wait to tee it up.”
The tournament schedule could be altered due to Hurricane Patricia, which is currently located in the Gulf of Mexico.
Junior Izel Pieters will make her third tournament appearance this season, while senior Logan Chaney will return to the lineup after missing the Bulldogs' last event. Chaney fired her career-low round with a 69 at the Schooner Fall Classic.
Bianca Theron will be the lone freshman in the lineup, but she can benefit from the leadership of juniors Jessica Peng and Ji Eun Baik.
