
Bulldogs Conclude Day Two Of The UAB Invitational

The men's success was highlighted by a win in the long jump from freshman Willie Reed (24-00.25). Competing alongside Reed was teammate Jason Harper who finished eight overall (21-07.25).
“I feel we had a solid start to the indoor season,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “We had some very good performances this weekend and we've learned what we need to work on and improve before the Commodore Invitational next weekend.”
The men's 4x400-meter relay team, comprised of Charles Taylor, Scottie Hearn, Dustin James II and Rodrigo Rocha finished in second place with a time of 3:15.61.
In the men's finals of the 60-meter hurdles, Jovan Davis finished third with a time of 8.05. Also, earning a third-place finish was James in the men's 400-meter dash (48.87).
Shayla Luckett recorded a second-place finish on the women's side in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.58.
Freshman Mia Meydrich made her MSU track and field debut in the women's mile run placing eighth with a time of 5:14.37.
Off the track freshman Tiffany Flynn had a leap of 19-00.75 in the long jump earning a third-place finish.
Also in the field, high jumper Seth Peace finished fourth (6-08.75) followed by teammate Chance Stephens in sixth (6-06.75).
Two Top 10 finishes came for the Bulldogs in the women's shot put. Sophomore Haley Reynolds finished fourth with a throw of 47-03.75. Following Reynolds was Sasha-Gaye Marston in ninth (43-09.00).
After returning from Birmingham, Ala., the MSU teams will begin preparation for the Commodore Invitational on Jan. 16-18 in Nashville.
