Bulldogs Conclude Prelims, Turn Focus To Nationals In June
May 31, 2014 | Track & Field
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Despite valiant efforts by Mississippi State on Saturday, the Bulldogs concluded the final day of the NCAA East Preliminary without advancing anymore track and field athletes to the nationals in Eugene, Ore.
For two MSU standouts at North Florida's Hodges Stadium, it came down to mere seconds.
In the 1500-meter run, where the top 12 advanced, Rhianwedd Price just missed on qualifying as she placed 13th with a time of 4:18.83. Then in the 100-meter hurdles, senior Keisha Wallace finished 14th at 13.33.
Still, the Bulldogs will send three to Oregon, which begin on June 11. SEC champion Brandon McBride will be competing in the 800-meter run, while Scottie Hearn and Cornelia Griesche are battling in the 400-meter hurdles and steeplechase, respectively.
