October 05, 2014 | Women's Golf
NORMAN, Okla.- Paced by No. 52 ranked Cheih Jessica Peng and All-American Ally McDonald, Mississippi State finds itself in first place after the opening round of the Schooner Fall Classic.
“We played very well today,” MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. “I'm thrilled we were able to put four solid rounds up. Weather was great and the wind cooperated to start The Schooner with a solid round. The field is one of the best of the fall, so we have two days to work hard and see how we stack up.”
Three Bulldogs held spots in the Top 15 of the tournament. They were lead by Peng and McDonald, who each carded a 67 to lead the team and also tie for the overall lead thanks to their four birdies.
Joining McDonald and Peng in the Top 15 was senior Rica Tse, who posted a 72 to earn a tie for 11th place.
One day removed from her birthday, sophomore Ji Eun Baik shot a 73, which was good enough to finish 35.
On her first outing of the season, Texas native Blaise Carabello was able to card a Top 50 score as she shot 74 to be at No. 44.
Mississippi State is set to tee off on Sunday at 10:00 AM.
