WEST POINT, Miss. – Mississippi State shaved eight strokes off its opening-round tally Tuesday to take a commanding 22-shot lead into Wednesday's final round of the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational in West Point.
After taking the clubhouse lead with a 285 on Monday, Ginger Brown-Lemm's Bulldogs fired a 277 Tuesday to finish the day with a 36-hole tally of 562 (-14), the second-lowest round in program history. “We went out today (Tuesday) much more relaxed and committed to playing the course. We have an exceptionally talented team, and I am proud of the way we got it done in spite of challenging situations,” Brown-Lemm said. “We train for these challenges, expecting that some rounds are not easy, and how it is worth it in the end to dig in a stick to our plan.”
