Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational

Bulldogs In Familiar Position . . . Atop The Leaderboard
October 21, 2014 | Women's Golf
The Bulldogs hold a 5-shot lead, as South Florida is second at 290, followed by Samford at 291.
“We had perfect weather today," MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. "We played well as a team, with 3 players finishing under par. Our 4th and 5th players struggled, but when you host a tournament, and expectations are high, the pressure doesn't allow you to perform as you normally would. We had a fantastic fall, and I have every confidence that two great rounds are coming. “
Leading the team after one round for the fourth time this season was sophomore standout Jessica Peng. She recorded five birdies en route to carding a 68 to stand in first.
Right behind Peng in second is All-American Ally McDonald. After her record-breaking performance last week at the Schooner Classic, she showed the home crowd an impressive round as she totaled a 69.
Also in the Top 10 is senior Rica Tse in sixth after she fired a 71.
All Bulldogs in the line up today finished in the Top 40 of the tournament as Ji Eun Baik and Logan Chaney each shot a 77.
Also on the course for the Bulldogs were Izel Pieters, Haley Austin, and Blaise Carabello.
Making their 2014-2015 debut Pieters shot a 74, while Haley Austin finished the day with a 78, as did Carabello, who made her second appearance of the year.
Tuesday rounds begin at 8:30 a.m. and admission is free.
