
Cash, Lakat Advance To Finals At USTA/ITA Southern Regionals

AUBURN, Ala. – For the third-straight year, the Mississippi State men's tennis squad will have a representative in the final day of the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships, as Julian Cash and Florian Lakat advanced to the doubles title match on Sunday.
The past two seasons, the Bulldogs have captured a doubles and singles championship at the event, with the most recent being former State star Malte Stropp capturing the singles title last season.
Cash and Lakat faced off against in-state rivals William Kallberg and Gustav Hansson of Ole Miss with a trip to the finals on the line. After capturing a tight first set, 7-5, the MSU duo found their rhythm and had a much easier second frame, taking it 6-3 and completing the straight-sets victory.
With the win, the Bulldog tandem moves on to face Auburn's Lukas Ollert and Marko Krickovic for the doubles championship on Monday, Oct. 20. The match is scheduled for a 9 a.m. CT, first serve.
