Bulldogs Hold 6-3 Lead In Weather-Suspended Auburn Series Opener
April 19, 2013 | Baseball
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Lightning and then heavy rain associated with a passing frontal system forced suspension of Mississippi State's nationally-televised (ESPNU) series-opening SEC baseball series against SEC West rival Auburn. The game will be resumed and completed Friday following game two of the series, a Comcast TV game scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start.
Mississippi State (30-9, 8-7 SEC) led 6-3 and was batting in the bottom of the seventh when play was halted by lightning at 8:59. The Bulldogs took a 4-3 lead with a three-run third and added two more runs in the sixth. Auburn held a 9-5 edge in hits but hit into a pair of crucial double plays.
The Super Bulldog Weekend series concludes Saturday with a 4 p.m. game.
