
Stropp Advances To Main Draw Play At USTA Players? Choice Open

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Qualifying play at the 2013 USTA Players' Choice Open wrapped up Monday, with Mississippi State men's tennis senior Malte Stropp advancing to main draw play with a three-set victory against David O'Leary.
Stropp took the first set from O'Leary 6-2, but found the second to be a battle between he and the University of Memphis senior. After O'Leary leveled the match with a 6-4 second-set victory, Stropp bounced back to take the third set and the match 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. With the win, Stropp advances to main draw play, which begins Tuesday, Oct. 22.
MSU sophomore Jordan Angus faced off against fellow Bulldog Zach White, who has taken off the fall and will return to the Maroon and White in the spring. White, the tourney's sixth seed, defeated Angus 6-4, 6-3, eliminating the Bulldog sophomore from the tournament.
