Bulldogs Quailfy On Day Three Of Texas Relays
March 30, 2012 | Track & Field
"There are stages to success in track and field," Dudley said. "You cannot simply walk out there and in one round win it all. Instead you have to first survive the preliminaries, and then you get your chance at glory in the finals."
Leading the charge for MSU was the 4x100-meter squad. The foursome of Tavaris Tate, D'Angelo Cherry, Jarrett Samuels and James Harris were in heat two of the preliminaries, where they ran 39.47 to finish second overall and move onto to Saturday's finals.
Also qualifying on day three was Nathan Arnett, who ran 14.11 to finish ninth in the 110-meter hurdle preliminaries and to secure his spot in the finals on Saturday.
Another Maroon and White hurdler qualified for Saturday's finals, as Keisha Wallace punched her ticket in the 100-meter hurdles with a ninth-place time of 13.37.
Erica Bougard, who finished fifth in the heptathlon on Thursday, picked up her second fifth-place finish of the week, as she jumped a personal best 19-05.50 in the long jump.
The final day of action for Mississippi State will start at 11:00 am with James Harris in the high jump and will conclude at 5:55 p.m., with the Cleburne Price, Jr. 4x400- meter invitational relay, which will feature nine of the nation's top relay squads, including MSU.
