Bulldogs Conclude Play At USTA Pensacola Futures
November 01, 2012 | Men's Tennis
PENSACOLA, Fla. - Despite fighting in a close second set, Mississippi State freshman Romain Bogaerts dropped his second-round match in main draw play Thursday, ending the Maroon and White's action in the USTA Pensacola Futures.
Bogaerts made several rallies in the final set of play, but fell just short, falling to Liam Broady 6-1, 7-5.
"I felt like I played a really good match today," Bogaerts said. "Now I am looking forward to the ITA National Indoors. I am very honored to be selected to play with some of the best."
The Bulldogs will return to action Thursday, Nov. 8, with two tournaments on the schedule.
Bogaerts (in singles) and the doubles tandem of Jordan Angus and Malte Stropp (winners of the USTA/ITA Southern Regional doubles crown) will compete in the ITA National Indoor Championships in New York, N.Y., the second major of the college tennis season.
The remainder of the Bulldogs will travel to Athens, Ga., for the Bulldog Scramble, hosted by Georgia.
