Second Annual Maroon Tee Classic Scheduled
January 26, 2012 | Men's Golf, Women's Golf
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Just weeks before the spring schedule tees off, the Mississippi State golf programs have finalized plans for the Second Annual Maroon Tee Classic to be held at Old Waverly Golf Club on Friday, May 11.
Slated for a 10 a.m. shotgun, the four-man scramble is hosted by The Maroon Tee Club, a fundraising organization founded in the fall of 2010 to assist both the men's and women's golf programs.
In addition to your foursome, an MSU player, coach or administrator will be playing alongside your group.
Lunch will be provided beginning at noon on the course, and a silent auction will follow the day's events.
"Our alumni and supporters will have the unique opportunity to play with the current MSU student-athletes, a coach or staff member on one of the top courses in the country," MSU men's head coach Clay Homan said. "Proceeds from this event are instrumental in helping our program compete on a national platform."
Last year's event proved to be a huge success after enough funding was raised to complete Phase I of the practice facility at the MSU Golf Course.
Fundraising for Phase II is in full swing and will include a team building that features locker rooms, conference and recruiting rooms, a player lounge and five hitting bays with one fully equipped with the latest swing-analysis technology. Naming opportunities are available for the building. Â
"This is a fantastic way for the people who help us succeed to connect with our current team and see the direction our program is headed," women's head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. "The Maroon Tee Classic provides not only a great Bulldog atmosphere, but also the chance to play on a premier golf course."
