Thornton Leads MSU Women Into Final Day Of Rebel Intercollegiate

OXFORD, Miss. - The Lady Bulldogs concluded second round play of the Rebel Intercollegiate today, firing a 317 on the day for a two-day total of 635.
Junior Erika Thornton continues to have her best tournament of the spring, firing a 75 in today's second round for the 29th position. She currently has a 151 total with just seven shots over par.
Fellow junior Mallory Batson scored an 80, for a 158 total. Senior Gina Sharp and sophomore Perry Katherine Furr stay tied as they both shot 81s in the second round, giving them a 163 total. Freshman Morgan McQuary improved by four shots for an 83 and a 170 total.
Senior Leigh Phillips had a score of an 80, taking her total to 161. Competing individually, she currently stands in 89th place tie.
Tulane, ranked no. 32 nationally, comfortably holds on to first place with a second round score of 292 and a 582 total. Eight shots back is East Tennessee State, who fired a 298 for a two-day total of 590. Host school Ole Miss and no. 23 Texas A&M sit tied at third place with total scores of 593. Ole Miss shot a 299 for the day, while Texas A&M scored a 295.
Missouri's Julia Potter stole the top spot in the individual category by shooting a 68 second round score, giving her a 138 total. She is six shots under par, four shots better than her closest competitor.
