MSU Has Big Opening Day At War Eagle Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. - With a short opening day of competition at the War Eagle Invitation in Auburn, the Mississippi State track and field teams turned in big performances.
"It was a great day for our multi-athletes in the throwing events," head coach Al Schmidt said. "It's a big deal for them to do so well in the throwing events."
Senior All-SEC performer LaQuinta Aaron threw 141 feet, 05 inches to set a new personal best by more than 10 feet and finish sixth. Freshman thrower Allison Storey also fared well with a personal-best throw 136-04 to finish eighth.
"LaQuinta and Martin had a big day," Schmidt said. "They bettered their greatest throw by 10 feet which is huge."
Bulldogs Martin Lee and Antoine Lipscomb also had a magnificent day in the javelin throw. Lee threw a personal-best 168-11 to finish seventh, while Lipscomb threw 150-02 to finish twelfth.
MSU concludes competition at the War Eagle Invitational Saturday beginning at 8 a.m.
