March 31, 2010 | Track & Field
AUSTIN, Texas - Mississippi State track and field teams got the 83rd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays underway with big performances Wednesday. MSU garnered Top 10 finishes in the College/University Section B 800- and 1500-meter runs.
"Today was a good opening to the meet," head coach Al Schmidt said. "These races are more training races, but both Chloe and Simone ran personal bests today."
Freshman Chloe Phillips brought in State's highest finish of the day coming in fifth-place in the 800-meter run. Phillips ran a personal-best 2 minutes, 12.48 seconds in the race.
In the 1500-meter run, Simone Domingue ran a personal-best 4:45.87 to finish eighth and Rob Ellis ran 4:00.36 to finish ninth.
"They all ran good races today, but the big races for us begin tomorrow with the 400-hurdles," Schmidt said.
MSU resumes competition at Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium at 4:30 p.m. with the 400-meter hurdles preliminary.
