Lady Bulldog Linksters Improve In The Final Round Of LSU Tiger/Wave Classic

Junior Mallory Batson led the team into the final round with a 76, putting her 54-hole total at 236 for a 64th-placed tie. Fellow junior Erika Thornton finished the tournament with a 54, tying for 90th place. Senior Gina Sharp improved in the final round by nine strokes giving her a three-day total of 250, for a 113th-placed tie. Senior Leigh Phillips and freshman Maria Roos, who completed her first college tournament, each fired 253s.
Second-ranked Auburn separated itself from the field Sunday, capturing the tournament title by seven strokes and firing an impressive 889. TCU went home at second place with a 32-over-par 896 score. No. 7 Alabama scored a 290 on the day for an 897 total and a third place finish. Co-host LSU scored a 901 for fourth place, with no. 18 Virginia rounding out the top five.
Next up for the Maroon & White is the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga. The University of Georgia hosts the event, held from March 26-28, with live stats available at www.mstateathletics.com.
