Bulldog Golf Completes Round Two At Seminole Intercollegiate

State spent most of the day in the top five reaching as high as third place, before eventually finishing the day in eighth place among the 14-team field. State trails seventh-place Baylor by one stroke and is merely nine strokes shy of fifth-place Vanderbilt. Host-school Florida State leads the way with an 8-over-par 576.
"It was tough, windy day and we didn't handle it very well," said head coach Clay Homan. "Our shortgames have plenty of room for improvement and that's where we'll continue to focus our attention."
Sophomore Brad Thompson led the way for the Maroon and White today with a 3-over-par showing, which included a team-best four birdies made. Thompson's two-round score equals 154, placing the Canada-native in a tie for 52nd among the 75-player field.
True freshman Robi Calvesbert and sophomore Lee Heaton both pace MSU through the two rounds with scores of 147 through 36 holes and are both tied for 21st in the individual field. Calvesbert and Heaton notched a 76 in round two.
Bulldog true freshman Mike Genovese followed his 1-over-par first round score with an 80, placing him at 10-over-par through two rounds, while fellow classmate Brad Mason is 11-over-par, which included a second round score of 78.
MSU will conclude the tournament being played at the par-71 Southwood Golf Course in Tallahasse, Tenn., tomorrow at 8:50 a.m. CT. Live stats are available at www.mstateathletics.com.
