Roos' Hole-In-One Highlights Lady Bulldogs Opening Day At LSU Tiger/Wave Classic

Just one stroke back, senior Gina Sharp capped off the day with a 79, standing at 72nd. Freshman Maria Roos had career-best opening round with an 80, tying for 81st place. To top it off, Roos recorded her first career hole-in-one on the 8th hole, 130 yards out.
Junior Erika Thornton followed with an 83 and senior Leigh Phillips rounded out the Lady Bulldog lineup with an 89.
Seventh-ranked Alabama currently holds a slight lead in the deep tournament, which consists of 16 schools ranked in the Top 50. The Crimson Tide finished with a 5-over-par 293. Just a stroke behind, tournament co-host and 20th-ranked LSU notched a 294, grabbing second place. The 18th-ranked Virginia squad fired a 296 for third place.
