State's Stropp Continues Strong Showing At ITA All-Americans

In his pursuit to qualify for the main draw of the tournament, Stropp won his second match in as many days and advanced to the third and final round of the qualifying draw. On Tuesday Stropp defeated Sergio Ramirez of Baylor in an easy two-set match, 6-1, 6-1, and improved his collegiate record to 3-1 in singles play. With the win Stropp advanced to the third and final round of the qualifying draw where he will face No. 59 nationally ranked Ryan Thacher of Stanford. The winner of the match qualifies for the main draw of the event where fellow Bulldog Louis Cant is waiting as an automatic qualifier based on his national ranking (No. 38) and last season's performance.
Stropp also got into the win column in doubles action, teaming up with Cant in the doubles qualifying draw. The Bulldog tandem tallied their first win as a combo by taking down Larence Formentera and John Warden of Oklahoma, 8-3, in the first round. In second round action, Cant and Stropp's bid to qualify for the main draw fell short with an 8-4 slip up to Texas A&M's Niall Angus and Alexey Grigorov, who were seeded entering the tournament.
A pair of Bulldogs were active in the consolation play of the qualifying draw on Tuesday. MSU's 56th nationally ranked George Coupland won in straight-set fashion, taking down Notre Dame's 112th-ranked Blas Moros, 6-4, 6-2. True freshman Zach White of State dropped his second-straight match, losing to Arthur Surreaux of New Mexico State in a tough three-set battle, 0-6, 6-4, 6-2.
