MSU Men's Golf Concludes Action At Mason Rudolph
September 27, 2009 | Men's Golf
Sophomore Lee Heaton was the Bulldogs' leader for the tournament, finishing among the top 50 of the individual field with a 4-over-par showing through the two-round event. True freshman Brad Mason trailed the elder Heaton by four-strokes, notching a 150 through two rounds. Junior Evan Hugall and true freshman Mike Genovese shot identical scores through both rounds, with 77 and 76 respectively. After being disqualified in the previous round for a rules violation, redshirt freshman John Darden bounced back with a team-best 2-over-par in the second round.
"It was a disappointing weekend, but we realize we have a young team and we are going to have mistakes," said head coach Clay Homan. "We're just going to have to learn from these tough experiences and bounce back. We have talent on this team and if we continue to improve we will become the team we know we can be."
The Bulldog linksters will return to action on Monday, Oct. 12 at the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate, played at the Old Overton Club in Birmingham, Ala.
