Improving on their eight-stroke lead through two rounds, MSU fought through tough winds Tuesday to post a third-round score of 299 to finish the tournament with an 888, a nine-stroke margin of victory.
“We did what we needed to do today to win,” said Homan. “The conditions were really tough out there today. Our guys did a great job of hanging in there.”
MSU's Josh Bevell claimed second place in the tournament after a 3-over-par, three-round score of 219. The runner-up showing is a career-best finish for the Southaven,
Senior Matt Fast posted his second consecutive 73 in round three and finished the tournament in a tie for eighth at 8-over-par. Fellow senior Carlos Sainz, Jr. posted his team-best sixth top-20 finish of the season as he finished the event in a tie for 12th. Rounding out the Bulldog lineup was senior Brian Mason who finished in a tie for 50th. Mason's tournament was highlighted by a second round, 1-under-par, 71.
Freshman Brooks Bankhead posted a three-round total of 235 to finish in a tie for 45th. Bankhead competed as an individual and his score did not count towards the team score.
Runner-up and host South Alabama finished nine strokes behind MSU with a 897, followed by
