Lady Bulldogs In Ninth After Rain-Shortened Day One Of Canes And Cardinal Classic

Miami Lakes, Fla. -The Mississippi State women's golf squad shot a 301 in the first round of the Canes and Cardinal Classic Monday on a rain-shortened first day of action at the Don Shula Golf Club in Miami Lakes, Fla. The second round, also scheduled for Monday, was cut short and will be resumed Tuesday morning.
Senior Julia Huh shot a 74 and is tied for 18th as she led State in the first round. Sophomore Gina Sharp is in a tie for 26th after a round of 75 while freshman Mallory Batson and sophomore Suzanne Stanley are tied for 34th, shooting a 76. Freshman Erika Thornton rounded out MSU's scoring as she shot an 80 and is tied for 61st.
Louisville was the team leader after the first round as they shot a 4-under par 284. They lead the field by nine strokes heading into the second round. Following the conclusion of the second round on Tuesday, the third and final round will be played.
