
MSU In Top 10 After First Round At Linger Longer Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. ? The Mississippi State men's golf team is in ninth place after the first round on Friday at the Linger Longer Invitational in Greensboro, Ga. The Bulldogs shot a 5-over-par, 293 at the par-72 Reynolds Plantation.
Senior Josh Oller leads the way for MState posting a 3-under-par 69, which included a team-high four birdies and the team's only eagle of the day on the 436-yard, par-4 hole 12. The Brandon, Miss-native is in a tie for seventh among the individual field. Junior Noah Goldman is in the top 20 after his 1-under-par showing through round one. The Longwood, Fla.-native was consistent with par through the first 10 holes before notching a bogey, but finished strong with two birdies to close out the round. Junior Matt Fast was 3-under-par through six holes, but finished the round at 2-over-par with a 74. Carlos Sainz, Jr. notched a 79 through the first round followed by junior Logan Young, who was making his first appearance for MState this spring, finished the first round with an 80 for 8-over-par.
The 14-team field includes seven teams ranked among the top 50. In-state rival Mississippi is in first place through round one with an 11-under-par showing. Chattanooga trails in a close second after their 10-under-par showing with SEC-foe Georga and Georgia State in a tie for third at 4-under-par. Kennesaw State closed out the top five at 3-under-par. Eastern Michigan is in sixth place at 1-over-par followed by Clemson and host-school Mercer at 4-over-par. Texas Tech, Memphis, South Alabama, Michigan and Purdue round out the field.
