MSU Moves Into Ninth After Second Round At Qdoba Invitational

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - Mississippi State shot a 309 in the second round of the Qdoba Invitational Monday and moved up one spot in the team standings heading into Tuesday's final round. The Lady Bulldogs have a two day score of 626 and are nine shots out of sixth.
Senior Julia Huh made the biggest move of the day Monday, shooting a 74 and moved into a tie for 35th place. Freshman Mallory Batson fired her second straight 76 and sits in a tie for 17th, pacing the Lady Bulldogs. Junior Jillian Jones is also in a tie for 35th after a round of 79 on Monday. Freshman Erika Thornton is tied for 45th with a 160 while Suzanne Stanley is tied for 63rd with a 173.
"Mallory continues to lead the team through her consistancy and solid play," said MSU head coach Christi Sanders. "The team and I have set our goal high for tomorrows round where we need great performances from all five players to have any chance of moving up the leaderboard."
East Carolina shot a 294 in the second round to hold on to the team lead heading into Tuesday's final round. Miami's Jessica Steward leads the individual competition by three strokes after a round of 72 on Monday.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start.
