GREENSBORO, N.C. ? Junior Gina Sharp finished play at the Starmount Forest Country Club with a score of 229 atop the MSU women's golf team and finished tied for 19th overall individually. As a team, Mississippi State wrapped up competition in 14th.

Sophomore Mallory Batson fell just one stroke shy of the team lead with a three-round total of 230 and tied for 22nd individually, while fellow sophomore Erika Thornton fired a 236 to conclude play tied for 44th overall. Senior Jillian Jones recorded a total of 250 while junior Suzanne Stanley notched a 255.

Host UNC-Greensboro tied with East Carolina for team honors at the competition, as each team posted scores of 894 for 42-over-par. UNC-Wilmington finished third, while Georgia State finished 20 shots back at fourth and Florida International claimed the fifth spot. Stacey Miller of Illinois State mounted a final-round comeback to claim the tournament's individual title with a total score of 218 at five-over-par.

Mississippi State's will conclude their fall-season schedule in Auburn, Ala., at the Derby Invitational. The tournament will be held October 24-26 and will be held at the Auburn University Club.
