Pair Of Bulldog Netmen Advance On First Day At Southern Intercollegiate

ATHENS, Ga. - Mississippi State senior and 40th-ranked Philippe Frayssinoux along with freshman Maximilien Genuini won their opening matches to advance in singles on the first day of action Friday at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga.
Frayssinoux, the fifth seed in the Division I draw, defeated Diego Toledo of South Florida 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the Round of 32 on Saturday. With the win, Frayssinoux improved his singles record to 4-0 on the season. Also moving on in the main draw of Division III singles was Genuini. The Paris, France native won 6-1, 6-4 to advance to the Round of 16 on Saturday.
Also in action on Friday for State was Ryan Farlow, Pjotr Necajevs and Chris Doerr. Playing in the Division I draw, Farlow dropped a 6-2, 6-4 decision to 84th-ranked Chris Racz of Tennessee. Doerr fell 6-4, 6-4 to Virginia Tech's Pedro Graber while Necajevs lost a heartbreaking 4-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) decision to James McArthur of Louisville.
In the doubles action for MSU on Friday, State's pair of Farlow and Frayssinoux fell 8-3 to Rodrigo Santos and Vinicius Bortolatto of Winthrop.
Main draw singles and doubles action will continue on Saturday while consolation singles will also begin Saturday afternoon.
