September 16, 2007 | Men's Tennis
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - After claiming a doubles title on Friday and a successful day Saturday in singles, MSU senior and 40th-ranked Philippe Frayssinoux capped a successful weekend on Sunday by claiming the singles title of the Championship Flight at the MTSU Blue Raider Invitational.
Frayssinoux, a native of Plasir, France, topped 76th-ranked Marc Rocafort of Middle Tennessee State 6-0, 6-1 in the finals to move to 3-0 in singles for the year.
The only other Bulldog in action Sunday was junior Ryan Farlow. A Madison, Miss., native, Farlow topped Dusan Milanovic of Morehead State 6-0, 6-1 before completing his day with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory over Leandro Tolosa-Zanklusen of Austin Peay State in the A2 Consolation Flight.
"We closed out a pretty successful weekend today with some good wins," said MSU head coach Per Nilsson. "We had some positives and negatives but we have something to build on now as we continue through the fall season."
State's next action will come next weekend as they travel to Athens, Ga., to compete in the Southern Intercollegiate. Play will begin Sept. 21 and will run through Sept. 24 on the University of Georgia campus.
