
Mathis Tied For 31st After Second Round At NCAA East Regional

BATON ROUGE, La. - Mississippi State senior Amanda Mathis concluded the second round of the NCAA East Regional Friday at the University Club in Baton Rouge, La., shooting a 1-over par, 73. Mathis birdied two of her first three holes on Friday, but bogeyed three on the back nine and stands in 31st heading into Saturday's final round.
After round two, three are tied for the lead in the individual competition. UCLA shot a 281 on Friday to retain the team lead by two strokes over Wake Forest. UCLA's Sydnee Michaels fired a 68 in the second round and stands in the lead at 10-under par.
Mathis along with the rest of the field will conclude the tournament with Saturday's third and final round. The top eight teams and top two individuals not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships which begin May 22 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
