
Mathis Tied For 25th After First Round At NCAA East Regional

The Picayune, Miss., native totaled three birdies and three bogeys in the opening round. Mathis had her best career round at the University Club with a 67 in 2005, while her best event score of 215 came earlier this season at the same course.
After the first round, three are tied for the lead in the individual competition. Nannette Hill of Wake Forest, Sydnee Michaels of UCLA and Adrienne White of Louisville all fired rounds of 66 and lead the field after the first round. UCLA holds the team lead, as they shot a 281 in the opening round.
Mathis along with the other two individual competitors will tee off at 12:20 in Friday's second round. The top eight teams and top two individuals not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships which begin May 22 in Daytona Beach, Fla.
