Frayssinoux Falls At All-American Championships
October 05, 2007 | Men's Tennis
TULSA, Okla. - Mississippi State senior Philippe Frayssinoux's bid to advance to the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships came up short Friday, as he dropped a 6-1, 7-5 decision to Stanford's 111th-ranked, highly-touted freshman Alex Clayton. The loss for Frayssinoux was only his second of the fall season as his record fell to 10-2.
Frayssinoux, a native of Plasir, France, has the best start by a Bulldog since former MSU All-American Romain Ambert began the 2003 season with a 13-2 mark. Frayssinoux's Round of 16 appearance also marked the first time a Bulldog had reached that round since Ambert did so in 2003. Frayssinoux and the rest of the Bulldogs will be back in action Oct. 18-22 at the ITA Southeast Region Indoor Championships in Lexington, Ky.
