Three Bulldog Netmen Claim Titles At Crimson Tide Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -Mississippi State's Philippe Frayssinoux, Chris Doerr and Maximilien Genuini were victorious in the finals of their respective draws at the Crimson Tide Invitational Sunday in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Frayssinoux claimed the Bryant Draw Singles title while Doerr and Genuini captured wins in consolation play.
Ranked 40th nationally, Frayssinoux improved his singles record to 14-3 this fall by defeating Virginia's Ted Angelinos 6-3, 6-3 to claim the title. The win also clinched Frayssinoux's second tournament title this fall which also includes winning the championship at the Blue Raider Invitational earlier this season.
In the Musso Singles Consolation Championship, State sophomore Doerr topped Clemson's Robert Pietrucha 6-1, 6-1 to win the draw. Freshman Genuini claimed the Stabler Singles Consolation Draw, defeating Jordi Ballester of Jacksonville 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 which was his third victory of the weekend.
In other action on Sunday, State junior Ryan Farlow dropped a tough, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-2 decision to Samford's Renan Silveria in the Musso Singles Draw final.
Sunday's action completed fall play for Mississippi State. The Bulldogs will open up spring play Jan. 18-21 when they travel to New Orleans, La., to compete in the SEC Indoor Championships.
