Frayssinoux, Farlow To Play For Titles Sunday At Crimson Tide Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Mississippi State's Philippe Frayssinoux and Ryan Farlow both won two matches each on Saturday and advanced to the finals in their respective draws at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Bulldogs Chris Doerr and Maximilien Genuini also advanced to the finals in their consolation draws.
Frayssinoux, ranked 40th-nationally and the tournaments top seed in the Bryant Draw, first defeated Nejc Podkrajsek of Georgia State 6-4, 6-4. In his semifinals match, Frayssinoux topped Samford's Jordan Delass 7-6(3), 6-4 to claim a spot in Sunday's final.
In the Musso Draw, Farlow knocked off Javier Bes of Alabama 6-1, 6-2 in the quarterfinals, before earning his place in the finals with a 7-6(4), 6-4 victory over Victor Vaz of Jacksonville. Doerr moved into the finals of the Musso Consolation Draw with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Phillip Prins of Georgia Southern. Also moving into the finals of consolation was Genuini who notched a pair of victories on Saturday in the Stabler Draw. In the first round, Genuini defeated Mike Depietro of Michigan 6-4, 6-2 and then took out Tennessee's Matt Brewer 1-6, 6-0, 6-3 to advance to Sunday's final.
In the Stallings Consolation Draw, State's Pjotrs Necajevs defeated Chris Madden of Michigan 7-5, 6-1 in the first round, but fell 7-5, 0-6, 7-5 to Abe Souza of Illinois in the semifinals.
Farlow and Doerr opened play in the Tide Doubles Draw, topping Jordi Ballester and Vaz of Jacksonville 8-4. However in the semifinals, State's pair fell 8-4 to Alabama's Andrew Felsenthal and Houssam Yassine. In Red Draw Consolation Doubles on Saturday, Frayssinoux and Genuini defeated Scott Robertson and Steffen Soloman of Jacksonville State 8-5 in the first round. The duo was forced to withdraw however due to cramps suffered by Frayssinoux. In the White Doubles Consolation Draw, MSU's Necajevs, teamed with Miguel Artero of UAB, fell 8-4 to James Lloyd and Zack Watson of Radford.
Play at the Crimson Tide Invitational will conclude on Sunday on the University of Alabama campus.
