Thornton Leads State In Second Round At Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ? Mississippi State freshman Erika Thornton fired her second-straight 74 on Saturday to lead the Lady Bulldogs in the second round of the Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate at the Northriver Yacht Club Golf Course in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Thorton stands in a tie for 10th with a 148 heading into Sunday's final round.
As a team, State sits in 15th after a round of 310 on Saturday. Sophomore Suzanne Stanley is in a tie for 42nd with a 154 while Gina sharp is in a tie for 74th with back-to-back 80's. Freshman Mallory Batson carded a 77 on Saturday and sits in a tie for 78th while Julia Huh is in a tie for 80th with a 162.
Arkansas took control of the team lead in the second round, shooting a 300 and is a stroke ahead of second-place Louisville. Arkansas' Stacy Lewis and Furman's Stefanie Kenoyer are tied for the lead in the individual race with a two-round score of 144.
Final round action will begin with a shotgun start at 8:40 a.m. CT.
