Lady Bulldogs Remain In 11th After Second Round At Lady Paladin Invite

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Mississippi State women's golf team remained in 11th place at the Lady Paladin Invitational, shooting a 311 in the second round on Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs stand only eight strokes out of fourth place heading into Sunday's final round.
The Lady Bulldogs were led in the second round by freshman Erika Thornton. The Knoxville, Tenn., native fired a 75 and stands in a tie for 14th, with a two-round total of 153. Mallory Batson, also a freshman, shot a 77 and moved up to a tie for 31st in the individual standings. MSU's Gina Sharp is in a tie for 39th after a 78 on Saturday while senior Julia Huh is in a tie for 45th with a two-round score of a 158. Suzanne Stanley is in a tie for 89th after a round of 83 on Saturday.
TCU overtook the team lead on the second day, firing a 297 and leads by seven strokes over East Tennessee State. Laura Jansone of East Tennessee State is the individual leader by three strokes after a round of 73 on Saturday.
Final round action will begin at 8 a.m. CT Sunday with a shotgun start.
