State Tied For 11th After First Round At Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Mississippi State women's golf squad fired a first-round 313 at the Lady Paladin Invitational on Friday and stand in a tie for 11th in the 18 team field. In a packed field, the Lady Bulldogs stand only six shots out of third place heading into Saturday's second round.
Leading the charge in the first round for MSU was senior Julia Huh. The Pasadena, Md., native shot a 77 and stands in a tie for 18th. One stroke back from Huh is freshman Erika Thornton, who carded a 78 to open the tournament and is in a tie for 31st. MSU's Mallory Batson and Gina Sharp both shot 79 as they stand in a tie for 42nd. State sophomore Suzanne Stanley concluded the first round with an 86.
East Tennessee State is the opening-round team leader after firing a 299 and stand a stroke ahead of TCU. In the individual race, North Carolina-Wilmington's Carmen Perez-Narbon is the leader after shooting a 2-under par, 70. She leads East Tennessee State's Laura Jansone by a stroke.
Second Round action at the Lady Paladin Invitational will get underway at the Furman University Golf Course at 7:30 a.m. CT.
