Farlow Advances On First Day At ITA Southeast Region Indoor Championships

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Mississippi State junior Ryan Farlow won his first-round match Thursday on the first day of action at the ITA Southeast Regional Indoor Championships in Lexington, Ky. Farlow won a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Morehead State's Lovell medcalfe and advanced to the second round of the main draw on Friday. Also beginning play on Friday will be State's 40th-ranked Philippe Frayssinoux who received a bye thru the first two rounds.
Three Bulldogs fell in their first-round matches on Thursday and will begin play Friday in the consolation bracket. Bulldog Chris Doerr fell 6-3, 6-0 to Diego Toledo of South Florida while Bulldog Freshman Maximilien Genuini dropped a 6-4, 7-6(5) decision to Florida A&M's Artiom Podgainii. Also falling was Bulldog sophomore Pjotr Necajev who dropped a tough 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-2 match to R.J. Nagel of South Alabama.
Doubles competition will also begin on Friday and continue through Monday along with main draw singles and consolation singles.
