Tina Seals was a two-sport athlete at Mississippi State from 1981-1985, playing volleyball and softball. During her time at Mississippi State, Tina Seals saw both the side of a student-athlete and a coach. Seals, a native of Florence, Alabama, initially singed to Mississippi State in 1981 for volleyball. She shared the distinction of becoming the first Bulldog to be a four-year letterwinner in volleyball and was a captain on the 1982, 83 and 84 teams under coach Vivian Langley. In her final season of her playing career as a Bulldog, she led the team with 387 kills, while hitting at a team-best .316 clip. She was second on the team with 187 digs and third with 132 assists. On top of that, Seals was a two-time letter winner for the softball team. Immediately after her playing career, Seals began her coaching career at Mississippi State as an undergraduate assistant while she pursued a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, eventually graduating in 1987. She then took her first head coaching role Northwest-Shoals Community College for their inaugural season in 1992. She then returned to her alma mater to coach volleyball for five seasons, beginning in 2004, leading the Bulldogs to a pair of winning seasons in 2005 and 2006.
