Philip Still, an all-time great, was a member of Mississippi State’s first College World Series Appearance in 1971. Along with Back-to-Back SEC Championships and crowned the 1971 SEC Regular Season champions.
Still, a four-year letterman, has the best fielding percentage by a third baseman in MSU history at .972. That same year, he led the SEC with 42 runs scored, 11 home runs and 37 runs batted in. Still’s 1917 season would earn him recognition with a first-team All-SEC selection and tabbed a consensus All-American.
Following his time as a Diamond Dawg, Still would be drafted in the ninth-round of the MLB Draft by the New York Yankees.
